A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are learning daily living skills. They have been learning how to wash clothes, wash dishes and basic hygiene. They are doing a great job washing clothes, now they need to learn how to take care of their clothes by ironing them as well as mending holes and sewing on buttons.
My students have special needs.
There are four girls and ten boys in the class. Academically, they enjoy working hard. However, during their daily living skills sessions, they adore learning how to take care of themselves and their personal property. They attend a newly renovated public high school in a self-contained class.
My Project
They will use the materials during their daily living skills sessions. They will learn how to iron clothes on an ironing board, mend holes in their clothes as well as sew buttons and or snaps on clothes. They will also learn how to sew simple projects like pillows, napkins and even t-shirts.
The donations will have a great impact on the MOID (moderately intellectually disabled) students.
They will no longer have to just look at videos on how to take care of clothes now they will be able to actually take care of items themselves. The donations will also improve the classroom to include some of the same items that are in their homes as well as enlarge the room daily living area.
