My students need BOOKS! We don't have many books that are on grade level. Books like Junie B. Jones, Nate the Great and non fiction stories will greatly improve literacy.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
By the end of the year, I want to expand my students' literacy and reading skills. I would like to expose them to more read a louds and help increase their vocabulary skills. Because our library is so small, we do not have many grade level books. We need help.
LRPA is an amazing school with dedicated faculty and staff.
We strive to educate our students and seek to provide a rigorous curriculum. However, our resources are very limited. Majority of our students are from low income families, with little education. Some of our parents struggle with reading, so the fact that our students struggle was not surprising. Our students are bright and intelligent, but lack reading skills because of lack of exposure to literature. Many students are not on grade level reading, and are sinking further behind. We need resources. Our tests scores suffer, because we lack much needed materials.
My Project
I have asked for class sets of books, so that we can participate in guided reading and read a louds. I would also like to take advantage of the Daily 5 program. I cannot use this program fully, because students are reading the same books, books are not interesting, and books are below or above grade level.
Book donations will greatly improve my classroom.
We need a classroom library that is beneficial to students. Books expose readers to places, people, and experiences that they wouldn't normally be exposed to. Books spark imagination. Children lack those skills now.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
