It's not uncommon to hear a first grader say, "Listening center is my favorite thing to do!" Students LOVE listening to stories, so it's no wonder that listening center is always a hit during center time!
These books with audio CD's will greatly benefit the learning of my first graders who come from a variety of backgrounds in a rural area in Pennsylvania.
First grade is such an important time of learning and growth--my students come eager and excited to learn every day! Our new listening center that we received through DonorsChoose.org now needs books with audio CD's so that we can continue listening to stories during center time.
My Project
In the primary grades especially, it is so important for students to have many opportunities to read and listen to a variety of stories. A listening center helps build stronger readers by providing some of the following educational benefits: models good fluency (reading rate and expression), builds vocabulary, provides access to higher levels of texts, exposes students to a variety of books and genres, and reinforces listening skills. By having these 27 new books with audio CD's for our listening center, a couple of students will be able to listen to some of their favorite stories during our daily center time.
Your donation will help our class be able to fully utilize our new listening center during our center time!
Right now we have CD players, headphones, and splitters so that multiple students can listen, but do not have any books with audio CD's. Not only will these books with audio CD's help our love of learning grow, but it also will help us become better readers! Thank you for helping us get the books with audio CD's because we need to use our listening center in our classroom!
