My students need 40 MORE book titles in our library including "The Toilet Paper Tigers" and "Doing Time Online"! These books are matched to their reading level, which will allow them to practice the skills they are learning in class.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Do you love to walk into the bookstore and wander around until you find the "just right" book to match your mood? My classroom library needs more books for my students to hunt for the perfect book... they need the chance to browse through a variety of genres, authors, and series.
My students attend a Title I school in an ethnically diverse neighborhood.
My classroom is equally diverse; it is peppered with students whose families recently migrated to the United States and others who have lived in Virginia their whole lives with rich and meaningful life experiences. My fourth graders are curious and fun-loving. They are always willing to take learning risks during our time together.
My Project
The books that I have requested will help my kids become lifelong readers with vivid imaginations and an endless supply of curiosity. That's the goal, right? I teach using a Reading Workshop model, which encourages students to read independently at least twice a day (this means some kids are reading about a chapter book a week!). The kids get to choose their books (instead of me choosing for them) and like to have options, just like we do when we walk into a book store. The kids need to be able to practice their reading skills (visualizing, inferring, critiquing, interpreting, questing, etc.) and be able to share their thinking through conversation and writing.
The books that I have requested are going to help me show my students how to get lost in a good book and encourage them to practice the reading skills they are learning during my individual conferences.
Please help me provide my students with a library full of rich and authentic books.
