A typical day in my classroom is focused on the physical structure and function of the body. For this project we will compare the internal body structure of lampreys to humans. The students will integrate technology into this assignment by creating a video to explain their findings to the class.
Our senior class slogan is "Go B16 or Go Home", so we are going to GO B16 with learning until the very end.
My students are typical teenagers who face many challenges outside of school that often make it hard to focus on learning. Many of them do not see the value of a high school education and it is our goal to help them see the importance and encourage them to be successful. Our school is located in rural Mississippi and is a feeder school for several small outlying communities. Many students ride the bus for more than an hour each day to get to and from school. Our school is high poverty and most students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. My students are unable to buy basic school supplies. In most cases, buying a poster is difficult. However, we do not allow these adversities to be a stumbling block. We do whatever we can to support our students and expect excellence in all that we do.
The students will use these resources in the Biology lab to examine the animal's physical functions. Students will form a hypothesis and provide factual evidence to complete the project. Students will incorporate technology with biology to complete the assignment. The students will create a video presentation to explain their findings to their peers. To differentiate instruction, students will be able to choose whether they create a video, a 3D model, or presentation. Students will work in groups and will learn how to work with others and how to effectively communicate in a group setting.
Your donations will provide a meaningful learning experience that they will remember for a long time.
We are confident that integrating technology into the Science experiment will enhance the students' experience. These specimens and lab supplies are needed to conduct this experiment. We want to end the year B16 for our graduating class of 2016. Thank you for your support in making it a success. We will share the results of this project with you in the near future.
