My students need very basic school supplies, such as crayons, pencils, glue, erasers and glue sticks to begin our new school year. We also really need a pencil sharpener!

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
For many students the beginning of school is very exciting - new clothes and new supplies. For others, they seem to begin the year at a disadvantage without the supplies they need. Can you help me level the playing field by providing all of my students with the same much needed supplies?
I teach kindergarten.
My students are very enthusiastic, inquisitive learners. Their backgrounds are varied from affluent to poverty level. Some are ESOL students and some have special needs. Our school is large with over 900 students PreK through 5th grade. Our curriculum focuses on student inquiry based learning with a global perspective. For this age hands on learning is essential. We just don't always have the materials we need.
My Project
Learning is meaningful to students when they are able to create and make connections. Last year I was given $5 per student to purchase consumable materials such as paper, glue, glue sticks, scissors and paint. This doesn't even cover a month's worth of cost. Many students start off the year with very few or no supplies. For many of them if they run out, their families are not able to replace them. I don't want my students to miss out! Won't you please foster learning in my kindergarten cuties?
Do you remember the excitement you felt when your parents purchased school supplies for you to use?
Now with budget cuts teachers have limited supplies to provide and many families are not able to purchase what their children need. In turn, students' feel different from the other students and this sometimes contributes to poor motivation. Won't you help us all get the same basic supplies we need?
