A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
On a typical school day, my students work in a variety of subject areas. School and home communication, as well as organization, are two of the most important elements of ensuring the success of my students. Students having what they need to succeed, and stay on top, is vital to educational success.
My students are a wonderful, active, hands on group of individuals.
On a typical day, my students work together to help one another out with problem solving and learning. My school is located in an area that is a mix of middle and low income households. Having said that, my students do not let their limitations at home hold them back at school. When they are at school, my students are actively involved in taking control of their day and their learning. They sing, they laugh, they look out for each other.
My Project
My students will use the materials that I am requesting in a number of ways. First, they will use the binders as BEE Books (Bring Everything Everyday) to help keep the lines of communication between home and school open and clear. The BEE Books help to make sure everyone is on the same page and has exactly the same binder and folders that their classmates have. The BEE Books will go home every night with necessary items (homework, notes, etc.) and return to school each morning with completed assignments, notes for me, lunch money, etc. No one needs to worry about not having the funds at home to have what is needed in class. My students will use the additional folders to help keep our classwork organized and in one place. When it is time for math, I can simple say, "Okay, everyone please take out your green math folders," and everyone will know what I am talking about and know where to look for what they need. This will also help my students learn the benefits of staying organized.
This project will make a difference because it will help to make sure all of my students are on the same playing field.
Everyone will have the materials needed to continue progressing in school and staying organized and ready to go with a variety of subjects- math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. When students don't have to worry about having what they need, they are better able to focus on their school work and homework.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
