My students want opportunities to create public art to express their ideas! Funding this project will provide opportunities for my students to create ceiling tile murals that will be installed on campus! I believe creating public art is the best way to show students how art can make a difference!

I feel very fortunate to work with such innovative and diverse students and teach at a school that cultivates such a culture! Our students embody characteristics of being tech savvy, culturally aware, creative problem-solvers, global thinkers and leaders.
"Expressions" is a core class that students take daily throughout their middle school years. That means students take 540 days of art class during middle school! In order to continue to build, extend, and connect students with art we must strive to offer authentic and meaningful experiences to provoke thought and engagement! I believe creating public art is the best way to show students how art can make a difference!
My Project
My students need ceiling tiles to use as canvases for mural art! My students need yard sticks to grid and paint to create beautiful murals that will beautify our campus! Our students will jump for the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of acquired art techniques through a public installation of a ceiling tile murals! Students will be able to work with others to collaborate on design concepts, plan and implementation of techniques. From collaborating students will gain leadership, communication and time management skills. However, the sense of personal pride and creative validation is an immeasurable take away that we wish for every one of our students. Please fund our project!

Students that are involved in creating public artwork take away more than the creative experience. Students involved in creating public art take away a sense of accomplishment, pride, and personal value. These positive outcomes will start a continuum of students intrinsically motivated to express their ideas through art!
