This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Students who studied the arts have higher grades, score better on standardized tests, have better attendance records, and are more active in community affairs than other students."
-National Assessment of Educational Progress, 1997, research by Dr. James Catterall
Every student K-5 has art class.
They are inquisitive, full of enthusiasm and eager to learn. Students can hardly contain their excitement when discussing fine art masterpieces. They truly take pride in their work and love talking about their ideas.
My Project
With these art supplies students will have the ability to create an original artwork. We draw inspiration from art history, different cultures, cross-curricular connections, contemporary artists and art elements and principles.
Students can use their brand new supplies to have artwork to display in our first annual art show! We also plan on displaying lots of artwork in the school for all students and staff to enjoy, as well as putting up work in the community.
Your donations will remake the art program.
We need a quality arts education program and you are directly impacting their lives in a positive way.
"The arts bring excitement and exhilaration to the learning process. Study and competence reinforce each other; students become increasingly interested in learning, add new dimensions to what they already know, and enhance their expectations for learning even more. The joy of learning becomes real, tangible, powerful." www.arteducators.org
