Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning my students arrive excited and ready to learn. School is their safe and happy place.

My students come from all over the five boroughs; some have even lived out of state.

We service the highest population of homeless children in our borough. We have families that are new arrivals to America, from countries in Latino America and as far as Africa. Many of them will finish the year with me as their teacher, while others will move on to the next shelter,looking for some stability.

My Project

My students need 2 iPad minis in protective cases with headphones. iPad minis offer me an opportunity to help English Language Learners grasp the language through games and apps. I will also be able to download reading activities for my struggling readers, who often feel lost during regular instruction. These iPads and headphones will allow students to learn at their own pace, while not falling completely behind their classmates.

This donation will make school more fun, while filling the gap often experienced by transient students, English language learners and struggling students.

Students will learn through fun activities, gain confidence and succeed through differentiated learning opportunities.
