Did slavery in America start with Christopher Columbus? What was life like during the colonization period? What is the Boston Tea Party - was it a real party that we'd like to go to? Please help my students find the answers to their questions!
The majority of my students are Spanish speakers that come from families with great financial needs.
About 70% of students at the school where I work are English Language Learners (ELLs), and about 98% of all the students receive free and reduced-price lunch. My students are 75 enthusiastic and curious fifth graders who want to learn and be engaged and challenged on a daily basis!
My Project
I am requesting various books about the colonization period, slavery in America, and the American revolution so that my students could find answers to their questions about American history. I believe that it is important to engage students in learning about history in the elementary grades, because one needs to know the past in order to solve the problems of the present and the future. I think these books will help me achieve this goal!
Please support my students' curiosity about American history and help them find the answers they are looking for.
These books will help my students understand how and when slavery started in America and what happened as a result.
