Reading is power and your donation will help my students become powerful by giving them nonfiction books to read and learn from.
I teach a curious bunch of fourth graders in an urban school in Washington state.
They are voracious readers who devour my fiction books as soon as I get them into my room. Nonfiction is another story! Past experience has led them to believe that nonfiction is "boring" and so I want to ignite their passion for nonfiction reading with some exciting new books. What kids wouldn't love reading about exploding ants and pink dolphins living in the Amazon?
My Project
Funding these resources would show my students that nonfiction reading is not only an important life skill but is also exciting! Students will have a chance to read about wild animals, extreme machines, exploding ants, fast felines, and more. What more could we ask for? In addition, I am requesting book sets so that students are able to engage in book club discussions of the material to increase their passion for nonfiction learning. Giving my students an opportunity to talk about their learning is key for engagement and retention so multiple copies is a must!
Please help my students get excited about nonfiction reading once again!
Your donations will immediately improve our classroom library and will ignite the fire for nonfiction reading that will help them a great deal in their future. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
