Our classroom is extremely dusty and moldy. It has become especially bad after severe maintenance cutbacks last year. Despite my best efforts to regularly sweep and dust the classroom, our classroom is still an unhealthy place for students
My students attend a large urban middle school.
The building our classroom is in is several decades old. The seals on the windows have worn out over the years and as a result much dust and debris enters our classroom.
My students with allergies have been having an especially difficult time this fall. Red itchy eyes, runny noses, and sneezing are a daily occurrence in my classroom. After consulting an allergy specialist, the doctor recommended that I put air filters into the classroom. Maintaining the health and well being of my students is my primary goal as an educator.
My Project
My hope is that the air filters that I am requesting will alleviate the pain and discomfort for my students who have allergies. I also feel that my students with asthma will be able to breath easier.
The air filters will improve the quality of life for my students during the school day. As an educator I try to focus on the learning goals I have set for my students. All of my decisions in a classroom are made with the consideration of how to increase student learning and increase student interest. The air filters are no different. I believe that creating a hypoallergenic classroom environment will improve student learning.
The donations made for this project will help alleviate pain and discomfort for my students.
The donations will also make my classroom a cleaner and safer place to work. Thank you for you consideration.
