Ms. Garcia from San Antonio TX is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Robotics for Good

My students need robotic kits, including two different platforms that are compatible with accessories including light, touch, and even color sensors. They will learn how to build, program, and operate robots to help their community!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are top scholars, hard workers, and good humans. They come from a variety of backgrounds, but all of them have a burning interest in engineering and computer science. They participate in mentor programs, clubs, and courses that push them to achieve more than the average student.

Our students are the next tech geniuses and engineers who will design and improve our world.

They need the resources to develop 21st century skills that will get them to and through college and careers in STEM.

My Project

Our brand new STEM Club will integrate computer science and engineering so that students can develop and succeed in 3 areas: college and career skills, competitions, and community improvement. They will use high tech skills to design and create a robotic product that can help their community. Using our new equipment, we hope to compete in at least 2 robotic competitions this year including the elite FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and the Agrobotics Challenge.

Robotic competitions are the perfect way to put students' 21st century skills to action in a productive manner.

In FRC, students will design and build a robot to complete a specific mission and will compete against top STEM teams in San Antonio and beyond. In Agrobotics, students will create an innovative product that will address food production and nutrition through improving livestock breeding and/or crop production.

We are requesting two robotic kits: an Arduino board plus accessories and a Lego Mindstorm kit plus accessories. The Arduino board will allow students to learn electrical engineering skills that they can apply to their robotics competitions and to their futures in STEM. The Lego Mindstorm kit is required for our participation in San Antonio's Agrobotics competition that will be hosted by the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo in February. Students will learn how agriculture and food production can be improved through innovation through the Agrobotics competition. Our students are excited to put their computer science and engineering skills to good use as they dream up solutions for today's (and tomorrow's) biggest challenges. Thank you for your support!
