What do you remember most about your reading classes in elementary school? I remember having text books, novel sets, and a huge classroom library to browse for books. Can you imagine what class would have been like without these resources? This is a challenge my students face daily.
My students are wonderful!
They are eager and willing to learn. Although they attend one of the oldest school in the county, they take great pride in being a student at their school. As much as they love learning they face many challenges due to lack of budget and funding. My students are in 1st - 5th grade from a high poverty community. As the Title I Reading teacher, the students that I serve are in the lowest 20% in their grade levels and risk not meeting the standards, failing district assessments, and not passing the CRCT. Many of my students do not have access to materials and resources at home. As an educator, when and if I can bring something new into the classroom I am able to grab their attention and get them excited to learn!
I am requesting two tablets for my classroom: an iPad mini and a Microsoft Surface. With these tablets my students will have millions of books at their finger tips! We will be able to play interactive learning games, practice our phonics, read stories, respond to stories, and so much more.
Only you can help change my student's lives!
By donating to my project you will be supporting life long reading skills for over 50 students. This project is important to each student who enters my classroom; the addition of these two tablets will help each of my students improve their reading skills, their abilities, and their self esteem as readers.
