"We have a responsibility to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to receive a high-quality education, from pre-kindergarten to elementary and secondary, to special education, to technical and higher education and beyond." - Jim Jeffords
My students are special education students who love learning.
They are all unique and have different special needs. The one thing they have in common is that they want to learn, and they work hard every day to master their learning. They live in poverty and often times lack the resources needed to be prepared for school.
My students are longing for STEM materials. I want to work with my students on various STEM projects that correlate with their classroom's projects. Oftentimes my students get lost in their regular classroom and I'd like to extend their learning in my room so that they can take more time to process the projects or experiments. My students will use the iPad mini to explore STEM subjects, games, and experiments. They will research the STEM lesson that was taught in their mainstreamed classroom to expand on the ideas and further understand the concepts. My students need a lot more time to process their understanding, and having an iPad mini for STEM related work will increase their confidence and allow them the extra time they need for comprehension.
If you choose to donate to our STEM iPad mini project, you will be helping my special needs students learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in an engaging and hands-on ways.
This will in turn boost their self-confidence and pride as they complete projects together.
