My students need an iPod touch and a reliable CD/iPod system to keep music in our classroom along with a set of hand bells for them to play along during music time.
The one thing that keeps my classroom moving throughout the day is music! We are always listening to music or singing songs to help transition between activities and to help us learn new concepts.
My classroom is a blended special education classroom with many different abilities including non-verbal students.
My students range in ages from 3-5years old. My school is in low income area, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch at school daily.
My Project
The one thing all my students love is music! We recently did a study on different types of music and made our own instruments to play. The kids now request music and instruments throughout the day. To help keep all of my students engaged, we use music during all of our circle activities, during transitions, when it is time to clean up, and to say goodbye at the end of the day. My college CD player isn't going to make is much longer, and most of my CDs have been played so many times they have become scratched and are beginning to skip. We need an iPod to put all of our favorite songs on so we can continue to enjoy music them along with a reliable CD/iPod player to listen to music on. We have some instruments, but not enough for each student. The bells are an instrument that all my students are able to play during music time!
As I said before, I have a blended classroom, and some students are non-verbal, but when music is playing, my classroom is truly blended as they all sing, dance, or play an instrument!
Music is what connects all of my students together throughout our day!
