Getting Techy in Kinder: Technology Makes a Difference
My students need two Osmo Numbers sets to use with our iPads, a document camera to view lessons on the smart board, and a mobile cart to use throughout the classroom.

My Students
Rigor, relevance, & relationships are what its all about in my classroom. I strive to provide an environment that is challenging, caring, & rich with creativity. I choose to show passion as I teach in order to create a passion for learning in my students. My students would tell you we are a family.
I work in a low-income urban school district with students who are very high need.
Most of them have been through more in their few years than I have been through my whole life. Many of them have had to grow up so fast. Some of them are even care-takers for their small siblings, while they are still just children themselves. But let me tell you, my kids love to learn. School is their escape; a place they can get away from it all & just be a kid. Their desire to be at school & get an education is so strong, even at the age of 5. I strive to provide them with experiences that they might not otherwise have, as well as provide them with resources they might not otherwise have access to or can afford. My school is a very positive upbeat place, filled with nearly 800 children under the age of 6. Working for one of the only schools of its kind in the state is quite an honor for me. I truly do love my job and love my kids, because there's not a day that goes by I don't feel I made a difference
My Project
If funded, these resources will be a huge help in my classroom. With this project I focused on technology. My students already use OSMO on our two classroom iPads, which I have an OSMO starter kit for each. With these, the students get to play word games & use tangrams to create shapes & patterns. They would love the opportunity to play math & number games as well, as this this the subject they enjoy the most. They are now able to manage their own math and reading stations which this game will lend itself perfectly to. Instead of walking around with my math book showing each student an example or holding up a writing piece at the front of the room hoping they can all see, having a document camera would allow me to project these images on the smart board while assisting all students and checking their work for understanding. Students will also be able to access the document camera for sharing examples and completing problems in front of the class, which in turn gives them so much pride.
OSMO's newly released Numbers will help improve my students skills in counting, adding, & subtracting, through the integration of technology.
The document camera would also make things easier & more efficient by providing my students with a live visual of a lesson on the smart board. Furthermore, having a mobile cart to display the document camera on, as well as my Ipads, & laptop will allow me to freely move around the room, instead of being anchored to my desk when needing to use technology.
