All kids love the tiny bricks used to create buildings, castles, and anything the imagination can create. I want to add Legos, Lego building plates, and a storage rack to the library to enhance problem solving through creative play.
I teach five hundred and fifty students in kindergarten through fifth grade in a suburban Kansas City elementary school.
My students are learning to be leaders and take responsibility for their learning. My students are ready and willing to work hard and enjoy learning new things each day.
My Project
My students will use Legos and building plates to not only create, but increase interpersonal and problem solving skills. We will use themed cards that will pose a situation to engage students to create, build, and design solutions individuals and in small groups. Our school focuses on leadership skills and proactive thinking. These activities will give our students an amazing platform in which to put those skills to the test. The storage rack will help us to keep the Legos organized and safe so they can be used for years to come.
By using Legos and building plates, individually and in small groups, my students will gain confidence in themselves as they problem solve, create, build, and work together.
This is a unique and creative platform for learning that my students will appreciate and enjoy. All kids love Legos and I want to help them translate that love into a learning activity that will help them grow.
