It can be difficult for students to stay in one spot when coming together as a class. Some students with disabilities and other needs have a hard time with personal space an boundaries. It would be great to have assigned seating an spacing when our large class comes together for the lessons.
I have a lot of students that are English Language Learners and do not understand English.
I also have students with disabilities in the classroom. It can be difficult pulling all students together at the carpet and have them paying attention and staying focused. A lot of off task behavior stems from not being in the correct spot, or being in someone else's personal space.
My Project
My students will better learn by having a classroom rug, because they will have boundaries. This will help a majority of them to stay focused if they know right where they are supposed to be, and where others should be. The students will also be able to use the rug as a work spot, where they can lay down and complete their work. They will also be able to choose it as a reading spot.
Having a classroom rug donated to my class will change students' lives for the better because they will be able to be accountable for their own actions.
They will no longer be blaming anyone else for their lack of focus. It will improve my classroom behavior and attention because each student will have a designated space to sit when we all come together to learn.
