Literacy Fun!

My Students

My classroom is made up of eager, energetic, and interesting 2nd graders. My students love to be actively engaged and learning. I want my students to enjoy school and look forward to coming to my class each day. When they are playing learning games they are actively involved in, they learn more.

My students are funny, creative, and motivated.

We are a title one school serving a high percentage of children from low-income families. We have loving teachers that do their best everyday to insure our students are getting the education they deserve. I like to provide activities that help my children learn in fun and dynamic ways. Many of my students struggle with cooperative activities and working together. I enjoy challenging them with partner work and group games to improve social skills along with learning. There aren't many times available for social interactions besides recess (once a day) and lunch. If I can give them more opportunities to "play" together, they can learn the curriculum and social skills that are so important.

My Project

My students need literacy bags, word work activities, reading comprehension games to learn and develop social skills. The literacy bags that I'm requesting will be used for students to take home and do activities with their families. Many of our students don't have books, pencils, crayons, and paper at home. The bags are family activities that give them an opportunity to work and read together. The games I'm requesting will benefit my students throughout the school year to boost literacy and social skills. They will play games together and learn cooperation and social skills while they are learning. I look forward to giving my students more opportunities to read, play, and interact with their families through these activities.

This project will improve my classroom and students by providing them with more activities to be engaged.

They will be able to have more choices to work and play with other students in the classroom to improve social and reading skills. The literacy bags will give families the opportunity to share book and participate in an activity that is fun and family friendly! My students deserve the opportunity to have more options to learn and play in the classroom, they are second graders!
