I refuse to shush kids in the library. I want my students to love reading and learning, and I want them to have an area dedicated to sharing their experiences.
I teach information literacy skills to 550 students K-5 in a suburban Kansas City school.
My students are leaders and are letting their strengths shine. Each day I see about 125 students in my library. I am amazed everyday at the growth and dedication that I see from these incredible kids.
My Project
We are asking more and more of our students. The rigor is constantly increasing. I want to give my students a place to unwind. My students will use these chairs to create a conversation area where they can talk, read, and relax. I want my students to have a space where they feel comfortable discussing things they've read, sharing things they've created, and enjoying time with friends and classmates. These chairs will be the base of this area.
The chairs will given my library added dimension and give students a small oasis.
My students will love the opportunity to meet with their friends and recharge before heading back to class. I want to give them a special place within the walls of our school.
