Ms. Mindock from Kansas City MO is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need materials such as hot plates, wax paper, stirring rods, and Alka Seltzer to be used in lab experiments and pencils and paper to record their results.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students had the opportunity to begin their school year in a newly re-opened and renovated building. Our school is one of two schools that are part of Kansas City’s new Middle School Initiative – an effort to improve the academic and social experience of the middle level child.
Our teachers and students are brave and energetic pioneers in this exciting endeavor.
Our school is in a high-needs district, and although many of our students face difficult challenges outside the classroom, my students challenge themselves and each other inside the classroom to reach the highest achievement level possible. They are curious learners, eager to discover science and how it relates to their daily lives.
My students need supplies such as paper, pens and pencils to record their lab observations, dive into calculations, and maintain their scientific journals. Materials such as hot plates, wax paper, stirring rods, sand paper, and Alka Seltzer will be used in lab experiments. Projects exploring reactions, developing Rude Goldburge machines and many more will not only enhance their love for STEM fields and their knowledge of the material, but will aid them in their development of collaboration skills.
Science is a subject best taught with interactive, hands-on experiences!
This project will allow my students to explore a variety of scientific topics through a series of inquiry-based critical thinking labs. The supplies will go towards a wide range of interactive, exploratory, and inquisitive activities. It is important that students have the materials necessary to set them up for success. Interactive lab materials will help engage students and develop future scientists.
