This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students need creative ways to solve problems as part of their STEAM focused project-based learning.

The students in my school need creative ways to solve problems.

They need hands-on materials that they don't have at home to build and explore possibilities. They need to learn to collaborate to accomplish a goal. They need practice with positive communication skills.

My Project

The students will use the K'Nex to collaboratively solve a problem using positive communication skills. They will build simple machines that solve a problem they are assigned or came up with on their own. They will work in groups to come up with ideas and then accomplish the goal through the building process.

This will be highly engaging to many of the students in my building.

They will be able to use a tool many of them have never used before because their families have other priorities to focus their spending on. They will learn that there are other options available to creatively use their time besides electronics.
