My students need a Full Size Mobile Plant Light Cart, three light fixtures for the cart, a plant tray and six 8 Quart Bags of seed starting soil.

My Students

In my Jr. High Agriculture class we are working towards growing plants like tomatoes from a seed to the kitchen table. One of the challenges that we face every year is starting the seeds in the classroom before they go into our unheated greenhouse.

My class consists of a mixture of 15 7th and 8th grade students that truly enjoy learning about how to grow plants.

Our school is a K-8 school that has around 300 total students. We are part of a farming community that is deeply rooted in agriculture.

My Project

The materials requested for our project will be used to more efficiently start growing our plants from a seed until they are ready to be transplanted and put into our greenhouse. The germination tray will enable us to get a greater percentage of seeds to germinate. The soil will provide us with what we need to start growing our plants. The growth rack and lights will help to save space in an already crowded classroom where we are growing our plants.

Having the donations to purchase the requested materials will make for a much better learning environment for my students.

Having more room in the classroom will allow for more learning activities to take place and plants to grow more efficiently. I have been growing plants with my students now for 6 years and the kids really enjoy seeing that they can grow these plants from a seed into a mature plant and be able to provide food for their family or others in need.
