My Students

My students have a deep love for math and science! What if my students could enhance their learning by performing hands on math and science labs? Their learning would grow exponentially.

I have a class of twenty-two 5th graders.

My students are a crew of eager learners who are willing and enjoy learning through new experiences. Our school is a Title One school. The students and staff at our school foster a culture of learning and growth.

My Project

I envision a classroom that has many math and science learning opportunities. My students will use the fraction blocks in small groups to learn about equivalent fractions. They will use the spring scales to measure the load that is placed upon a simple machine. We will use the balances to measure mass which is part of our measurement unit in science and math. The cabinet is going to become our lab table where our microscope will be locked up and safe and where demonstrations will take place (serves as a lab table). The first aid kid and safety glasses will be used as lab safety, which is the first unit of our science curriculum. The meter sticks will also be used for both math and science curriculum.

When we receive the donated science and math equipment, my students will have the opportunity to learn by completing project based learning.

These learning experiences provide deeper thinking and a chance to problem solve.
