This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach 22 second graders at an inner city public school. The majority of my students live in poverty and do not have access to technology at home. My students are so eager to learn new things and further develop their love of learning.

My school services over three hundred students from grades prekindergarten to fifth grade.

My students are primarily from areas of poverty and do not have access to technology and other resources. Many of my students are below grade level in reading and math skills necessary for the transition to middle school.

My Project

My students will be using these kindle fire tablets in reading and math rotations. These tablets will allow them to have access to a variety of books about several topics which they can read independently or with a partner. Students will also use these tablets and cases to work on math rotations where they will practice skills and concepts they are struggling on. Not only will these tablets allow students to practice skills they need to master but also learn how to appropriately use technology.

This project will give students access to more materials to challenge their thinking and further develop their learning.

Furthermore, by helping to fund this project you will be helping make a difference in my students lives and giving them a stepping stone on their path toward a brighter future.
