My students need a pug mill. Students LOVE using clay, and our whole K-8 student-body can recycle un-fired clay with this amazing machine.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Myer's classroom raised $4,590
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our school is a diverse mixture of students located in the heart of downtown Kansas City. Our students are creative, and actively create art in every grade. My classroom is grades 5-8, and they LOVE working with CLAY.
Our students students are a diverse mix of scholars, and we are located in the heart of downtown Kansas City.
Students achieve high results on standardized tests, and perform very well in all areas. We are enthusiastic makers of art, and would love the chance to focus our clay program in an environmentally friendly way by recycling the scrap clay from our projects.
My Project
Students will learn how clay can be reconstituted quickly and efficiently when the proper equipment is available. Clay has been recycled, wedged, and reused by hand since it has been an art-form. In today's technology-driven world, students need exposure and access to proper technology in all areas of life and all subjects in school. A pugmill allows students to see how engineering and technological advancements apply to art as well as other fields!
This project will make a difference for our students because we will no longer have to engage in the cumbersome and messy practice of hand mixing and hand wedging old clay into new usable clay.
Students will learn how to use the pugmill and be guided in small groups toward safely and more efficiently recycling our clay. This in turn will allow students to CREATE MORE art!
More than half of students from low‑income households
