My students need upright bases, volleyballs, mats, standards, ball lockers, training cones, target spots, whistle and ball bags to begin our volleyball team.
I want to see my students become healthier and physically fit by the end of our school year and the years to come. My biggest challenge is getting them to put down the video games and exercise! That is why I want to start a volleyball team!
Most of my students live in poverty, where poor food choices are the norm because they fit in the family's budget.
Due to lack of exercise and poor food choices, I am seeing more and more obese children entering our school. As their physical education teacher, I feel it is my responsibility to help them fight the odds stacked against them.
My Project
I plan to start a boys volleyball team and a girls volleyball team to encourage physical fitness and to give my students the opportunity to achieve a lifetime sport. Too many of my students go home after school and get absolutely no physical activity except moving their thumbs on their video game consoles. My students will practice and learn skills needed to succeed in the sport. Good sportsmanship will be encouraged, and every child will get a chance to exercise for a minimum of ninety minutes per practice. We need standards to hold the net in place, mats for drills, training tools, ball lockers, ball bags, a whistle and volleyballs for practice and competition.
I want my students to experience and learn the thrill of being on a team, where they can develop team building skills, discipline, and self-confidence.
This project will help my students become physically fit.
