"Change is inevitable. Growth is optional."
Change has been a theme for my students and I this year! We have grown with the changes in our technology and curriculum, making us better students and teachers! Help us continue our growth!
My students are a mix of 2nd and 3rd graders.
We are currently in the midst of the first year of IGNiTE, a district program that encourages and supports engaging, relevant, and personal learning. With this new way of thinking, my students and I have developed a new idea of what our classroom should look and feel like. My students enjoy flexible seating and open work areas, but along with that comes reinventing traditional storage in the classroom.
My Project
My students will be able to continue their learning in an environment that allows them to access materials they need with ease. Organization can be difficult in a blended learning environment, where students aren't using traditional seating arrangements. Three drawer towers will allow groups to keep their individual materials in one place instead of getting up to go to the materials area every time we transition to a new activity. We use Expo markers constantly in math (the only subject I teach) and find that providing each student with their own labeled marker will benefit them in the long run.
These supplies will save transition and prep time for both students and me.
With this saved time, more learning can take place! These supplies will also allow students to be organized, self sufficient, and responsible: life skills anyone would benefit from!
