My students need art supplies to help them explore leisure activities. We need crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint and brushes to use to explore art activities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Within the functional life skills program, our students are working on skills that they will need that are essential to life. They work on reading skills that are functional within the community, managing money skills, job skills, and vocational training.
Students in the functional life skills program have a range of disabilities from Autism to intellectual disabilities to physical impairment.
They enjoy life and having fun and are a true joy to teach. This project will help students explore activities that they could do at their leisure. It teaches them how to relax and enjoy the company of their friends.
My Project
Students will use these activities to create art projects that are teacher lead and activities that are student led. They will work on social skills and appropriate conversation skills with their friends. They will increase their sense of accomplishment and pride when they are able to complete an art project during their leisure time.
Donations for this project will improve my classroom by supplying tools students need to create these projects.
These students don't have access to art supplies at home and this project will allow them to explore their creative sides while increase their leisure and social skills.
