My Students
Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are where the jobs are! Let's get kids prepared for the real world. STEM skills to the rescue!
My students are 8th graders at a public middle school, and are interested in technology.
Many students come from blue-collar households or homes with limited access to advanced technologies. These items would provide a hands-on, sky's-the-limit approach to our work.
My Project
My students need mini drones, robots, 3D pens, and Google Cardboard viewers for our STEM course. These resources will allow students the opportunity, not just to consume technology, but to create it. The 3D pens will allow students to create 3D models, they can write code to control the drones, design a solar powered robot, program the Ozobots, or develop and view augmented reality with the Google Cardboard viewers. These materials will provide students with choice and ownership over their learning.
Many times during the school day students are told exactly what to do or that there is only one right answer.
In the real world they will need to be prepared to solve problems by developing their own solutions. These tools will allow for exploration and experimentation, a chance to think independently.
STEM activities such as these will enrich critical thinking, increase literacy skills and enable the next generation of learners to be innovators.
