This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Education and technology is forever changing and advancing and we are just trying to keep up! I want my students to have the same opportunities that others across the country and world have.
My classroom is full of bright, creative, English language learning first-graders.
We are located in Kansas City, MO and about 80% of our students are Hispanic. The majority of our students live at, or below, the poverty line. We are proud of our strong academics but are always trying to provide our students with the best materials and education. Our school is the center of the neighborhood. We have strong parental involvement and great connections with our community.
My Project
The materials we are requesting will help the function of the classroom. We currently struggle during station time during math and reading due to not having headphones available for students working on computer resources. The students are distracted and unfocused all around the classroom because of the noise caused. We also do not enjoy being confined to our desks for the purpose of group work and independent work. The clipboards will help us to be able to move freely around the room and not stifled by desks and tables. We learn around the room and students are expected to use the resources around the room to help them. Clipboards will make this possible. Lastly, we would love to be able to use the apps available on the tablets to master certain reading and math skills. The apps available are designed to make learning hands on and are absolutely one of the best ways to engage students in learning today.
These donations will help our classroom engagement and function.
Our students deserve to have the same resources that other schools take for granted. First-grade is a pivotal year where many foundational skills are mastered. I want to ensure that my students have everything they need to grow and learn the best they can.
