My Students
My students love to be read to. They are constantly asking me to read a book that they have chosen. They look to books for entertainment and information.
My students are typical second graders.
They love to learn and like to have fun doing it. My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood, however we have a great school climate. We are like one big family. My students like interacting with each other in all types of lessons in the classroom.
My Project
In my classroom, we do guided reading groups. I have a station called read to self. In this station the students would be able to use the listening center to listen to books together and then discuss what they have read. They can use the listening center and the read along books in this center.
Funding this project will greatly improve the reading skills of my students.
They will be able to read along and learn new words every time they use the listening center and books. Learning new words will help them to go to higher levels in their reading and will impact every subject area in school.
