My students need wobble seats and floor chairs to support choice and movement while completing work.

My Students
How do you feel at the end of a long day of sitting in a desk? Probably drained and cranky. Kindergarten students have to sit for longer than we would like. Choices in seating can help students keep their focus and get the work done!
I teach 19 energetic and caring kindergarteners in urban St.
Louis County. We are a Title 1 school, with all students receiving free/ reduced lunch. My students struggle with the basic needs of life, and sometimes school is the safest and most positive place they can be. That being said, they are eager to learn, and even more eager to please and "be good".
My Project
I am requesting stools and floor chairs to serve as alternate seating locations for my students to complete their work or just to cozy up and read. The stools will allow the students to wiggle as I teach, and they will allow them to wobble while they read or complete paperwork or centers activities. The floor chairs will allow the kiddos to sit on the ground and still have their backs supported while they read.
My students are eager to learn, and they love making choices for their learning.
These options will allow for greater choice in where/ how they work. This will lead to greater focus on task completion and reading. The wobble stools will also allow students who have a greater need for movement to wiggle and activate their core while not bothering the students near them.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
