Mrs. Korth from Kansas City MO is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need basic school supplies including pencils, spiral notebooks and folders to be prepared and ready to learn.

"May I borrow a pencil?" Is a question I hear every day, every block, too many times to calculate. Pencils are essential to a writing class, so I give out countless pencils everyday. Even in this computer age, students still need pencils.
If you were to walk the halls of my school it is pretty much the same as every middle school in the country, buzzing with the excitement of a new day.
However, there are many students carrying heavy burdens. Countless students bare responsibilities far beyond their years, or live in conditions some of us find hard to even imagine. Over 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Due to no fault of their own, many lack the basic school supplies such as pencils, spiral notebooks and folders. However, sometimes students are too embarrassed to speak up and let others know they are in need of supplies.
If this project seems familiar that is due to the generous participates of donorchoose.com, I was able to create a school supply closet for students who do not have the basic supplies to be successful in school. This grant will keep this closet going! Students will be allowed to access the closet anytime the need arises. Other teachers may also access the closet should they become aware of a student in need. The supply closet is located in a destination that does not cause embarrassment to the students as they retrieve the supplies. The students will be able to go to class prepared and work without worry. In addition, to replenish the supply closet, I will again be asking friends, family and other teachers to purchase supplies when found on sale or at garage sales.
Donations to this project will allow many students to have the basic school supplies to be successful.
All students deserve the opportunity to come to school without the added worry of the lack of resources to purchase supplies due to no fault of their own.
