Summer will soon be approaching and my students are excited about Summer School! My active, creative 6th graders are looking forward to the Summer Science Program were they have the chance to be inventors, scientists, and investigators.
I teach in a district where more than half of my students receive free or reduced lunch.
My students come from hard working families where both parents work to make ends meets and there is little left over for extras. Many students in my district attend the free Summer School Science Academy offered by my district.
In the Science Academy, students participate in hand on activities that are engaging and challenging. I am always looking for new ideas and projects for our summer program.
My Project
The EcoSTEM Energy Kit would be an amazing addition to our summer school curriculum! With this kit, students could study alternative energy. With these materials, my students would get to explore series and parallel circuits by wiring renewable energy devices using Elenco's Snap Circuit Green Alternative Energy kits which are included in the overall kit. Students could design, build, test, and modify renewable energy prototypes. Part of this kit is also a Vision Renewable Energy's Whole Room Solar Light that the students could conduct experiments with before shipping it to a community without power where students there would also receive an unassembled kit and learn how to make a solar light themselves.
This would be an amazing opportunity for students attending Summer Science Academy!
Students would be engaged with these hands-on summer science experiments. What better way to spend three weeks in the summer! Please help my students in their quest to be investigators, scientists, and inventors!
