Each of my students come in with their own stories and very unique personalities.
My goal is to instill a love of learning in each student. I believe in each of them, and I want them to believe in themselves. Our school has four-day school weeks to save money for our district. With this, our school days are longer. Our school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch for every student, every day. I am very proud to be a part of this school and want to see these students succeed. They live in a rural county with limited access to many things most of us take for granted. Our town has a gas station, two churches, and a post office. This school is nestled within a very caring community. While some students have the benefits of having a computer at home to utilize, there are still several students who have very limited contact with this technology.
My Project
This will allow our students to put some real world skills into practice and to bring excitement of computers into our classroom. Besides helping not only with STEM related applications, these Chromebooks will be utilized in a variety of class activities and content to help in the improvement of instruction and learning.
Currently, the students at our school utilize computers from a mobile cart that is shared with grades 6-8. These computers have been a blessing in the past few years, however the majority of these computers are getting older. Additionally some of the machines are no longer fully functional due to wear and tear of so many students using them daily. The addition of the wireless mouses would help on the longevity of the computers as well.
This project will make a difference because it provides 21st century technology to help prepare our students to be college and career ready.
Additionally our students will be able to focus on the learning instead of trying to get a computer operational.
