Our first grade students are eager to use more technology in reading, writing, and math.
Despite the hard circumstances they face in their everyday lives, our students are eager to learn.
Our school focuses on making learning engaging and relevant. To aid in this, our first grade teachers try to provide extra opportunities to use technology, knowing that technology is not always available at home.
My Project
Our four first grade classes share a cart of twenty-five Chromebooks. Up until February, we have had to share our cart with two other grades. Because the cart has been used by so many students, our headphones have become worn down. We now only have six working pairs. New headphones will allow us to use the Chromebooks in a more engaging manner. It will become easier for students to focus when they are not distracted by the sounds of the other technology in class.
We believe that students will become more engaged when reading on computers when using headphones.
It is also our hope that they will be able to focus when playing math games or typing stories. Lastly, it will be easier to pay attention to online assessments when each student is able to use their own set of headphones.
