My Students
Everyday we talk about how much we've learned and the things they been able to achieve. I teach my class that they are capable of doing anything as long as they try their best. Some of my students have yet to fall in love with reading and learning.
I teach at a high needs schools.
My students come from a variety of households, some of which include parents who only speak Spanish, single parent homes, family struggles, and family successes. Life can be very challenging for my kiddos and I want school to be something that is challenging in a good way. I want my students to fall in love with learning and even more fall in love with the way learning and mastering concepts makes you feel.
My Project
We will use our Kindles to work on missing skills, read books, and to create. They will learn to use technology in a safe way that benefits our learning. They will be able to record their reading and be proud of their accomplishments. My students will be able to use this technology daily. They will be able to learn to close read through highlighting text, looking up vocabulary words, and annotate a text. They will be able to practice reading, writing, and math skills through the many apps offered on the kindle fire. They will learn new strategies for the skills they need extra support on.
My project will make a difference because it will be consistent and useful.
So much of the time, technology tends to be inappropriate and overused. Reading books will always be appropriate and important. My project will help my entire class.
