My students need 2 classroom libraries of fiction and nonfiction books to improve their reading skills.
They also need heavy duty bins and headphones for taking online tests.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Some of my students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations. This could be the year that magic happens and they fall in love with books.
I work in a very impoverished school district where books have taken the back-seat to playing with video games and watching TV.
In my school, we are trying to instill the value of education to the students because not all of them see school as a priority.
My Project
My students need 2 classroom libraries of fiction and nonfiction books to improve their reading skills. They also need heavy duty bins and headphones for taking online tests. My students will begin to see that they do not have to turn on the TV or tablet to enjoy learning. They can read for enjoyment; it does not have to be a chore. Students have such a hard time reading that they do not realize how much fun it can be to read.
I will officially have a classroom library with good quality books that capture the students' attention.
The books I have now are not in good shape and the students do not want to pick them up and read them. If I had bright, attention-grabbing books for them to read, they would have a much better chance of picking them up and actually reading them.
