My students need 3 iPad Airs to strengthen their academic abilities. We are a small school with limited resources, yet our students crave technology and its many uses.

My second grade students are from a wide variety of backgrounds and influences.
While one may travel to Disney World every year, another has not stepped foot out of the county. Our school is your typical small town, rural school. We never have enough money, but use what we have to do whatever we can for our students. When someone in the community is struggling, everyone steps in to contribute, whether it is from loss of belongings in a fire, funeral expenses for a loved one, or an illness requiring extensive treatment. The town cares for each other and the school is in many ways the heart of our town.
My Project
Through the use of 3 iPads, my students will be able to travel to other countries via Skype virtual field trips, research the art of poetry and publish their own works of art via Animoto or other online publishing tools, practice their current standard through online learning games specifically geared towards their abilities, and share their experiences through online blogging applications for kids.
When every student has the world at their fingertips, there is no limit to what they can do.
Many of the students have never held an iPad in their hands, while the ones who do have this resource in their homes do not realize the full potential and is used quite simply as another gaming device. As their teacher, I will be opening their eyes to the endless possibilities for learning that iPads can provide.
