My Students

My goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel safe and motivated. I want them to be willing to take risks and not be afraid of making errors. I believe that providing them with alternative seating options would promote the safe, comfortable environment that I try to create.

I am a Math teacher at a Title 1 school where almost 81% of students are on free or reduced lunch.

For most students, school is the safe place in their life. Teachers, staff and students come together to help create the caring community that we have established. Everyone works hard and looks out for each other. The positive relationships are one of the most important aspects of our school. It is evident that the teachers really care about students’ success, and students really appreciate their teachers’ hard word.

My Project

With a new rug, I want to create an alternative learning environment that gives students options when it comes to their seating. I think being comfortable plays a big role in learning. Think of time when you were in a meeting or lecture and felt uncomfortable. Where you as engaged as you could have been?

The donations for this project will improve the environment of my classroom.

Students will be excited that they have alternative options for seating. They will feel comfortable and more motivated to learn, which will promote my efforts of creating a safe, positive learning environment.
