My Students

My special education students will be entering the workplace in a few short years. I would love to equip them with some life long learning that they can carry into the workplace in the near future. "Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something..." -Gil Scott-Heron

Our school is a very rural, low-income school district.

We are one of the larger school districts in our area. I teach special education to high school-level students. Our students mainly come from broken homes and some are in the foster care system. My students come to school to feel loved and try to learn something along the way.

My Project

I have a lot of students that like to "fidget" due to their disability. They have a difficult time sitting still and the stability discs would be a fantastic way to cope with their need to move. I would also like to incorporate a stand station in my classroom to allow students to stand and work if needed. Also, more chromebooks in the classroom would be great to use due to the fact that our testing is on computers and more lesson plans could be geared toward technology usage if I had more computers. I would also like a color printer to print projects that are otherwise in black and white.

Most of my students have a need to move around due to their disability.

Being able to sit on something that will allow them to fidget at their seat would be great. Also, being able to have more technology in the classroom would help their future, especially the more familiar they get with it.
