This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are hungry for books and I am working hard to get one hundred books per student in my class!
My students are sweet little learners.
They worry about each other and take care of their school community. They lead with big hearts and caring hands.
Our school is located in a small community outside of St. Louis. My students live in a violent and unstable environment and it affects their social and emotional state in school. However, we have a wonderful and knowledgeable staff that creates a safe and nurturing place for them to go and grow.
My Project
These resources including Star Wars books, Peppa Pig books, and Splat The Cat books, will be used in our "Theme Book Library" in the classroom. Students can check these books out at any time and use them to practice their reading skills. They can also use them to just read for enjoyment. I will use the books daily during our read aloud time to model good reading habits and give students a chance to practice being a great listener.
Donations to this project will improve my classroom because it will give my students what they so desperately need: BOOKS!
Some of my students don't have a single book at home, so having these resources will create excitement for reading in them, as well as help them learn new vocabulary, and develop language, speech, and comprehension skills.
