My students need 5 headphones for the computers I have available in our classroom, a Chromebook for a center and an electric pencil sharpener that works!
Our classroom is a safe place for most of my students. Most of our learning is hands-on and filled with technology. I have to provide the materials for the students, therefore sometimes it can be difficult. "To love a child is just not simply enough."
Our school district is in a very poverty-stricken area of Missouri.
The students come every day with smiles on their faces yet hungry bellies. They all receive free lunch and breakfast. Our district goes above and beyond to provide each student with an opportunity to learn and expand their learning abilities.
My Project
The Chromebook would be used as a classroom center. Many of my students want and need to take AR (Accelerated Reader) tests yet with only three classroom computers for twenty children they end up missing their time. The headphones are to add to their experience. Not all of them can read the questions so these will help with their test scores. The pencil sharpener is a bonus for us all. Currently we have a wall sharpener that does not really work! It takes forever to sharpen pencils and we lose a lot of valuable classroom time!
By having a Chromebook in the classroom the students will be able to sit at their desk and use this computer each day to modify his or her own needs.
Educational games can be downloaded to their own specific needs. Also make up tests can be given quickly and be easily accessible. Accelerated Reader tests can be taken while others are using the three classroom computers provided for my twenty students.
