In order to utilize the recently discovered, and refurbished laptops, we desperately need a laptop cart. At the end of the day, they need to be stored and charged so the students can use them the next day. A mobile laptop cart would keep them safe and ready for use!
We are an extreme rural school, many would consider "out in the middle of nowhere".
Less than 20% of my students even have Internet access in their homes. As a result, not only do my students not have access to the world of educational opportunities provided on line, they do not have any knowledge as how to use a computer. Many don't even know what an address bar, or a search engine is. These skills are essential in order to properly prepare them for their future.
My Project
I recently discovered some old Dell laptops in a storage room. My students were beyond excited! With each student having their own laptop to use at school, not only would the world of educational opportunities online become available to them, they would also be learning the technology skills necessary to exist in today's workforce. The district agreed to wipe them clean, install virus protection, and purchase new batteries. Unfortunately, we have no where to store them or a method to charge them. A laptop cart would change this.
Right now, I have extension cords running all over my classroom.
I didn't need our safety department to inform me that this is a huge safety hazard. Especially when a student trips over the cords and falls for the uptenth time! A laptop cart would energize and excite the students in the classroom. A cart is essential to utilize technology and enhance classroom learning. We hope supporters will agree.
