I am a first grade teacher who loves the curious minds of my young students! Giving students opportunities for STEM challenges is the latest push in education. Exposing children to problem solving challenges will prepare them for the technology jobs of the future.
My students are amazing!
They love to explore and figure out more about the world around them. We practice the 7 habits at our school, and students learn from the start, that they are the leaders of their learning. They have Leadership Binders that allow them to set goals for their futures.
My Project
I look forward to giving my students opportunities for STEM challenges. With the Wood Construction set, students would work together to build a structure that would allow the marble to move smoothly through the set. The Contraption set, would have them using a guide to create a ramp that would allow the ball to move from one end to the other. Each set asks the students to use the materials to problem solve structural problems that occur and figure out how the pieces go together to create the end structure.
These materials will make a major difference in our classroom instruction.
These hands-on materials will be so exciting for the students, they won't even realize all of the Science and Math skills that they are working on with each other as they problem solve together!
