My students need art/building materials like paint, pipe cleaners, glitter, and play dough to use for creating. Boogie Board writers for writing practice and project planning.
In my pre K classroom we team teach two days a week. During this time we do Project Based Learning. We have whole group instruction with all three classes and then the children choose which direction they would like to go. We break off into three groups where we can research and complete projects.
I work at a Title 1 school.
The students attend a full day of school. I have 20 pre- school students between the ages of 4 and 5. They will all start kindergarten in 2016. The children in my class are at risk for not being successful in kindergarten based on the Dial IV screening. We also work closely with kindergarten students. This allows for peer modeling. It also helps the kindergarten students that need a little more help. The goal in my classroom is to provide each student with the skills and knowledge to be successful in kindergarten.
My Project
My students will use these supplies to create projects during Project Based Learning activities and provide for hands-on learning during center activities. I am asking for items such as paint, glitter, pipe cleaners, play dough and other art/building materials. The students will use these items to complete projects. For example we did a Native American unit where they had to create houses, clothing and types of transportation used during that time. I ordered Boogie Board Writers to practice handwriting and during small group instruction. The board will also be good for planning projects.
Project Based Learning allows students to be fully engaged in their learning.
It increases critical thinking and problem solving skills. The donations will help supply the students with the materials needed to get a hands-on experience.
