My Students

Teaching first grade is as rewarding as it is challenging! We begin our day with one of our favorite Good Morning songs. The students are always eager to get the day started. They really know how to keep a teacher on her toes! I like that about my class.

I teach 1st grade in a community where the population of the students at my school are mostly African American.

I have a class full of bright and eager boys and girls. My students come from a variety of different backgrounds, but there is one thing that is the same among them all. These kids love coming to school. Some are performing higher than their peers, while others are just maintaining. Whatever their level of understanding they are willing and able to grow!

My Project

The subscription to Spelling City.com will give my students a new way to practice their spelling words. They will be able to access their spelling words and activities at school and at home. They can even be mobile and complete their spelling work on the go. I want to be able to reach all of my students no matter what level they are on. Spelling City.com will give me the opportunity to do so. I will also be able to keep track to their learning through this awesome online program. Students and parents can choose to complete their weekly spelling work through Spelling City.com or in their spelling notebooks. Students will also be able to take their spelling test on the computer. It will be super easy for me to grade and keep track of everyone's progress.

This subscription to Spelling City.com will give my students and their families an opportunity to work together to increase their reading skills, word decoding, and vocabulary knowledge.
